Watercolor

This project was a study project where a watercolor-designed book was selected and the task was to match the colors to the design. Essential to take a snippet of a page and recreate the image all the way to the sketch itself.

The project started with going to the library and selecting a watercolor illustrated book. From selecting the book “Rex” by Simon James, I went ahead and selected three scenes to practice my watercolor designs. First characters and items from the background were selected to study sketch and design. Then three scenes were chosen to recreate before deciding on the final scene.

The final scene was first sketched, inked with a dip pen, and then using masking fluid to keep the spaces within the illustration pure white the design was recreated with watercolor.
