A Modest Proposal

This book redesign was crafted to convey a clear, professional, and persuasive message. It aims to present this historic story in a new light and provide a more modern twist. There are five illustrations throughout the text that support the writing around it. Each design was carefully hand-done with a traditional dip pen and paper. Then scanned in and placed into the story itself and exported as an epub document.

The only color that was used within the text is a deep maroon within the title and each drop cap within the text itself. This is to allude to the story’s twisted tale. The illustrations within the design also enhance the story’s tale. Highlighting the five key events that occur in the story itself. All were created in a dip pen style to pay homage to the story's history and time period. Using traditional elements that were used in that period to create dip pen illustrations that were scanned in and enhanced to combine a traditional yet digital version of the text.

The design projects professionalism and clarity, ensuring that “The Modest Proposal” is both engaging and easy to read. By combining a structured layout, effective use of color and typography, and relevant visuals, the design provides this classic story a new refresh for younger and captivated audiences.
