Paper Fashion Show

This project was a labor of love from my team of designers. For the Paper Fashion show, themed “Flight Beyond Wings,” we sought to avoid clichés like traditional wings or general flight imagery. Instead, we explored the concept of migration, focusing on endangered animals displaced by climate change. We chose five animals to feature on our dress.

To craft the perfect fit, we started by creating a custom mannequin. We draped a t-shirt over a model and meticulously taped it to match her form, ensuring our dress design would be tailored precisely to her body. Our team decided on six unique snowflake designs, which I personally selected. Using a 7900 printer, we printed these snowflakes on the provided paper, then cut out over 2,000 snowflakes in various sizes and colors.

For the animal motifs, we used a geometric template we purchased online. Our design team, Thrashed, named our creation “Arctic Extinction.” We carefully arranged the snowflakes on the dress, positioning the animals amidst the snowflakes to create the effect of them emerging from the snow.

Through this project and final fashion show we were featured in 303 Magazine and awarded the star student award.
